Collagen stimulator
Sculptra in Fort Lauderdale
Gradual, natural-looking volume that your own collagen builds.

Overview
What it is.
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator made of poly-L-lactic acid. Instead of adding volume all at once like hyaluronic-acid filler, it helps your skin make its own collagen, so volume returns gradually and can last up to 2 years.
At our Fort Lauderdale medical spa near Las Olas, Sculptra is for patients who have lost volume with age and want a gradual change rather than an overnight one. It is FDA-approved to correct smile lines (nasolabial folds) and fine lines and wrinkles in the cheeks.
Marissa Palermo, APRN, starts with a consult to see where you have lost volume and how much. You leave with a written plan covering how many vials, how many sessions, and the total price. Most plans use more than one session a few weeks apart, with a simple massage routine at home after each one.
Sculptra and hyaluronic-acid dermal fillers work differently, and some plans use both: filler for immediate shape, Sculptra for longer-lasting volume underneath. Marissa will tell you which fits your goals.
Sculptra is often part of a facial balancing plan. If expression lines are also a concern, Botox can be planned alongside it, and microneedling can address skin texture.

How it works
Four steps, no guesswork.
Consult and plan
Marissa looks at where you've lost volume and writes a plan: how many vials, how many sessions, and the total before you decide.
Treatment sessions
Most people need more than one session, a few weeks apart. Each visit takes about 30 minutes, with numbing first.
Massage at home
For a few days after each session you massage the area: 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. Marissa shows you how.
Results build
Your skin makes new collagen gradually. You may see a change in about a month, and results can last up to 2 years.
Your provider

Marissa Palermo plans your care around your goals and treatment history, with time to discuss your options and aftercare.

Good to know.
Do I have to get treated at my consult?
No. The consult is a planning visit. You leave with a written plan and the total price, and you can start that day, later, or not at all.
How many vials and sessions will I need?
It depends on how much volume you've lost and where. Most plans use more than one vial over a series of sessions a few weeks apart. Marissa sets the number at your consult, before you commit to anything.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
Sculptra works by helping your skin build collagen, so results come in gradually. Many people see a change about a month after treatment, with improvement continuing over the following months. Results can last up to 2 years.
Does it hurt, and is there downtime?
Most people feel pressure and a brief pinch; we numb first. Swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising at the injection sites can last a few days, and most people return to normal activity right away.
Is Sculptra the same as filler?
No. Hyaluronic-acid filler adds volume right away. Sculptra is a collagen stimulator made of poly-L-lactic acid: it builds volume gradually and lasts longer. Some plans use both, and Marissa will tell you which fits your goals.
